Penataka Comanche and Their Homelands in the 1840s

  Penetakas were the southern-most branch of the Comanche Indians.  They moved into Texas from the north, arrived in the Texas Hill Country around 1830 and lived there until the mid-1850s.  This article tells the story of their interaction with the American and German settlers who came to Texas during the same period. Special focus is placed on describing the location of their several villages along the San Saba, Concho and upper Colorado Rivers.
